FUT Hair Transplant

Utilizing an entire section, or strip, of hair with the thickest hair growth, in the designated treatment area. The two sections of divided scalp are then stapled together towards a complete Hair Restoration transformation.

WHAT IS FUT?

Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT) is a hair restoration technique. FUT is a new and one of the latest surgical procedures of hair transplantation. It is also known as the strip procedure.

The FUT technique is characterized in that donor’s hair is taken in elliptical hair strips on the back of the patient. FUT had been a common procedure for hair transplantation.

PROCESS OF FUT

In this process, the hair of the patient is transplanted in follicle units, which are naturally occurring groups. Actually, Scalp hair naturally grows in little groups of 1-4 hairs. Each of these groups is known as follicle units.

In the FUT procedure, first of all, treatment areas (Donor and Recipient) are numbed, and then with the help of thin strip follicle units, are taken from the donor area and then inserted in the recipient area.

FUT as Compare to FUE

FUT and FUE are two different procedures used for hair restoration. The main difference in both of these that in FUT, a strip of donor skin is removed from the donor area to extract follicle units to implant in the bald area. While in the procedure of FUE single follicle unit is extracted directly from the scalp. In FUT donor area is stitched and these stitches are removed after 10 to 15 days, and the stitches made a linear scar, whereas in FUE there are no stitches there are only little dot scars.

Treatment with the FUT method is significantly faster and, therefore, more cost-effective. The hair density after transplantation is slightly higher than in the FUE method. However, the patient cannot wear concise hair (shorter than 1 cm) after treatment with the FUT method, as longer hairs are needed to mask any scars that have developed.
